Municipality history
The Municipality was named after the military airport (which used to be located where the “Jane Sandanski” polyclinic and the “Goce Delcev” military barracks are today), which was bombed by Nazi Germany in April 1941.
Airplanes were introduced very late in Skopje, as the latest and cutting-edge means of transport. The airport was called “Skopje”, and it was located at the farther end of the city, in today’s settlement of “Aerodrom”.
